Objective: Review the sources, the form and solutions for conflict resolution. Build an approach to conflict management that will improve the organization.
There is an old saying that you have to break some eggs to make an omelet: It’s true even if you don’t run a restaurant. Pick almost any topic for three or four people to discuss, and you’re likely to see some disagreement. In our professional and our personal lives, how we approach these differences of opinion and our guidelines for resolving any conflicts will determine how effective we’ll ultimately be. It’s easy to just avoid conflicts in the short term but unresolved problems typically resurface.
Conflicts are often caused by either miscommunication or a lack of communication. Effective communication techniques are introduced and discussed. A very effective tool for helping to resolve conflict is to improve the accuracy of communication. A powerful technique for improving communication skills and resolving conflict in personal relationships will be discussed and practiced. It is recommended that the coaching and mentoring workshop be considered as a precursor to the Conflict Resolution lesson.
Lastly, a conflict can occur because two approaches to a problem are available and neither camp knows enough about the other to find a compromise position. The workshop facilitators will discuss techniques about how to effectively manage conflicting ideas, to result in a ‘win-win’ solution. |
